• About zaRECs

  zaRECs (Pty) Ltd. administers the South African voluntary REC market along the lines of the EECS specifications on behalf of members of the voluntary Renewable Energy Certificate South Africa market participant’s association (RECSA).

• RECs

  To date 121 445 MWh (RECs) and 42 349 MWh have been issued (uniquely identified) and redeemed respectively. There are approximately 100 active market participants in the voluntary market association. Certificates are readily available from rural PV, Bagasse and Hydro renewable energy facilities.   

• Market Participants

  Market participants sign a set of standard terms and conditions to commence access to the registry and declining volume based charges are applicable.
